Pigs can’t fly – but neither can dogs. For most, this isn’t news. A woman, who claimed, though, that dogs can fly. To test her theory, she actually threw her dog 30 feet of the Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge in Riviera Beach, FL. on January 18.
The 8-year old black and white Jack Russell Terrier mix dislocated a leg in the fall, according to Palm County Animal Control.
“It did attempt to sit up. It was yelping really badly,” said one witness “We had to turn away. It was just horrible to see a dog in so much pain and shock. But it did seem as though it was trying to sit up.”
The girl who tossed the dog off the bridge later laughed; took off her clothes and went into the water, witnesses said.
The dog will stay with animal control for the foreseeable future, according to Capt. David Walesky of Animal Care and Control.
Authorities took the woman to a hospital for a mental-health evaluation. She likely will face animal-cruelty charges, the sheriff’s office said.
