The film “A Dog’s Purpose” seemed so promising, then a cell phone video was released by a member of the crew of a trainer forcing a dog to jump into fast moving water, actually pushing the dog in. In the video, it later seemed the dog was in trouble in the water.
One of the toughest jobs is condensing a complicated story into TV news time, which WBBM-TV (Ch.2) reporter Vince Gerasole does an excellent job. I was honored to a part of this story, but it’s a story that was totally avoidable. What went wrong? That’s unknown at this juncture. Do I boycott the movie? Maybe not. I can’t say – since I haven’t seen the film – but it seems as if this is EXACTLY the kind of movie and messaging I want to see about dogs. A mistake, totally yes – is not seeing the movie going to be helpful, or is the messaging of the movie more beneficial?
Here’s the movie’s trailer. You decide.
