Like journalists Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose, radio host/humorist Garrison Keillor, and so many others, women have come forward saying they’ve been taken advantage of in some way(s) by influential and powerful men. Through my wide-ranging conversation with Karen, who has risen to the top in her industry, we stumbled upon the topic of women trying to work their way up in many industries being abused by men in power.
Karen got personal, revealing that she was also taken advantage of. And, she describes how this had occurred, even with judges. Not so long ago, it might not have been so easy (if even possible) to come forward. Will Karen now come forward with specifics? She explained.
We talked about how Karen first rose to public notoriety as a result of representing John Wayne Gacy. What was it like to represent a mass murderer (who murdered 33 boys and buried them under and around his home)? Why did she represent him? And what was he like? What does evil really look like?
We also discussed what it means to be a lawyer. And, particularly for a family lawyer (which Karen is), what it’s like to hear so many serious problems people have day in and day out, many of which involve children. And it’s the children, Karen said, who may pay a price. So, should parents divorce or not? What are all the legal implications?
