I love the LaGrange Pet Parade – instead of looking up human/animal bond in a text book, just watch the parade and witness the bond that people (particularly children) have with pets. And hundreds of kids (and nearly as many adults) participate with pets in the parade, America’s original pet parade
After several years off – I was asked to return, and will be at the parade – likely in a classic car (the vintage cars are one of dozens of parade highlights, aside from the pets) on June 4, at 9:30AM, kicking off at LaGrange Road and Cossitt Avenue in LaGrange. The route can be seen here. Previously, have been a Grand Marshall or co-Grand Marshall.
The parade’s mission is admirable:
Pets and Pals Charities, established in 1999, is headquartered in La Grange, IL. It is dedicated to promoting and supporting the health and care of animals in Metropolitan Chicago. In addition it promotes awareness of the value of animals in individuals lives and the special bonds that exists between kids and animals. Pets and Pals Charities accomplishes its mission through sponsorship of the acclaimed La Grange Pet Parade, providing educational scholarships for youth, and promoting responsible pet ownership through classes that show people how to care for their pets.
