If you have a pet dog, cat, or maybe even a sea lion or mountain gorilla (just kidding; do not get these animals as pets), you might want to thank Morris Animal Foundation for all they’ve funded. The Morris Animal Foundation funds studies for companion animals and for wild and captive (zoo) animals.
Currently, the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study—the likes of which has never been seen before in animal health—is investigating what happens over the lifetimes of these dogs and why so many are suffering from allergies and also dying early of cancers, particularly hemangioscarcoma. The study requires an amazing $33 million investment for Morris.
Morris Animal Foundations also funds about $800,000 a year for researcher’s education.
