National Puppy Mill Awareness Day is Sunday, September 17, noon to 2 p.m.
The walk, led by myself and Chicago Police Chaplain Robert Montelongo, with Cari Meyers of the Puppy Mill Project, begins next to the Wrigley Building. Clearly, this is a dog friendly event. and Veterinary Professionals Against Puppy Mills will be represented.
There is no fee to join in, but do, please register so organizers get a head (and paw) count. Also, rescue groups are absolutely invited.
Refreshments will be served in the Plaza of the Americas after the march. Chaplain, Montelongo, will provide a non-denominational ‘Blessing of the Animals’ following our walk. He will do a blanket blessing for all the animals present, and will then offer individual blessings for those that would like them.
This event is rain or shine, unless there is lightning and thunder. Please dress yourselves and your pets for the potential of changing weather conditions. At this point, forecasts look promising for Sunday. Please stay tuned to the Project Facebook event page for updates.
