Nothing on this planet is more absolute and devoted as the love between a dog and a human. This love is truly without regard to race or wealth or sexual orientation. Your dog will love you unconditionally. That is guaranteed. Even if you don’t appreciate it, you know it at some level.
And what about cats? It’s not too different, but cats aren’t as demonstrative and don’t get enough credit, in my opinion.
If I were wrong, we wouldn’t grieve so profoundly when we lose our pets. Many of us spend more time with our pets than we do humans. We confide in them. We trust them.
I can’t describe that bond, our relationship with our pets, and the results of that bond any better than my friend Dr. Kurt Venator does in this USA Today piece, which touched my heart and illustrates exactly what I’m talking about.
