Cats can learn anything dogs can. In fact, they often do it better. The Amazing Acro-Cats, featuring the Rock Cats, have been touring America and now return to their roots in the Windy City. The Acro-Cats appear October 19 – 22 at the Vittum Theater (1012 N. Noble, Chicago).
Really, these rescue cats participate in a one-of-a-kind performance, from rock ‘n roll music to jumping through hoops. In fact, Alley has leapt into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest cat jump.
The current band lineup features Oz on guitar, Asti on drums, Nue on keyboard, Ahi and Albacore on cowbell and woodblocks (percussion cats), Buggles on trumpet, and even a chicken named Cluck Norris rockin’ the tambourine!
Samantha Martin, who is mamma to the cats, has helped to find homes for more than 200 homeless cats and kittens. She takes in cats that need homes, trains them, and travels around America in the Acro-Cat bus. A portion of the proceeds always benefits foster and rescue efforts.
Yes, it’s all a little different, and when Stephen Colbert’s producers sniffed wind of that, they couldn’t help but book them on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert:
During the 2017 Puppy Bowl broadcast on Animal Planet, Tuna and the Rock Cats did the halftime honors with a performance from Kitty Gaga in her vegan meat dress!
Tickets are $21-$33, and available here. Some of the proceeds benefit Chicago Animal Care and Control, which is what these cool cats do (benefit local shelters) wherever they go.
