New Year’s Resolutions for Pets: America’s first veterinarian, Dr. Ron DeHaven, executive vice-president and CEO of the American Veterinary Medical Association offers his wishes and hopes for pets for this coming year. Some of Dr. DeHaven’s resolutions for our pets can save lives, others are surprising.
So here’s the question of the ages: “What’s A Dog For? The Surprising History, Science, Philosophy, Politics of Man’s Best Friend.” The book was released late in 2012, and I talk with the author John Homans. He covers it all in this extraordinary book.
Will a fearful dog always be a scardy cat? Debbie Jacobs says there’s hope for these dogs. She is the author of “A Guide to Living with and Training a Fearful Dog.”
And your Chicagonow.com pet holiday photo contest winner, Melissa Artega explains why and how her dog Timmy holds signs, like the one that says “Merry Christmas.” Timmy was named ‘The Most Festive Pet.” Melissa ‘won’ an appearance on this Petcast, and I promised to make a contribution to Tree House Humane Society. Tree House director of development Jenny Schlueter joins in the fun.
