Benefit for Dog Agility Instructor

Share

If you’ve ever taken an agility class, or used a Chicago Dog Friendly Area, consider attending “Halloween Fundraiser”  for Stacey Hawk, Saturday, October 29, 5 to 8 p.m. at the House of Blues (329 N. Dearborn St.).

Stacey requires a sensitive surgery to remove and test for a mass behind her eye, and friends and students created the Stacey Hawk Surgical Fund.

If you’re a dog lover, you’ll never go to a more important Halloween party. Stacey Hawk has changed countless dogs’ lives and enhanced the human/animal bond as an agility instructor. She also created the very first Dog Friendly Area (DFA) in Chicago, Wiggley Field on Sheffield Avenue at Wrightwood.

I was there when the park district accepted the idea of ‘dog parks’ or DFA’s  – as we call them in Chicago….It was Stacey who opened the door for us, demonstrating with Wiggley Frield that the idea of dogs having a place of their own could work. Today, there are many DFA’s and dog beaches – none were there before Stacey.

Even before agility became as popular as it is today, Stacey instantly saw the possibilities, a way for dogs to exercise, as well as to use agility to help dogs requiring a confidence boost and most of all to enhance the bond. She has been voted (repeatedly) as Chicago’s most popular agility instructor for a reason.

Stacey never turned down anyone in need – now it’s our turn. The fundraiser is only $35 – and includes food and entertainment.

And, besides – this will be a fun party. You can come in costume, if you want…There will be a costume contest. Most of all, how can you have a benefit at the House of Blues without music?

Janis Joplin may be gone, but not the Lauren Wolf Band who will perform. It’s been said that Wolf makes soul a science.

Also, rocker/bluesman Steve Stone appears! His garage rock ‘n blues concert will include some of his originals “Escape,” “Just Cant Quit,” and “Tombstone,” as well as some unreleased material from his upcoming debut release.

Food is being supplied by Karyn’s, Vienna Hot Dogs and how you not go somewhere that the Bulldog Bakery will be at?.
