Nothing yet on the FDA site, but Iams (Procter and Gamble) reports this and the AVMA confirms these cat food recalls.
The following notice was received by the AVMA from Procter & Gamble on Sunday, July 25, 2010:
The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) (NYSE:PG), is voluntarily
recalling two specific lots of its therapeutic renal dry cat food in
North America as a precautionary measure, as it has the potential to be
contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported. However,
P&G Pet Care wanted to make sure veterinarians and consumers are aware of the
situation as soon as possible.
The health and welfare of pets and their owners is our top priority.
P&G Pet Care is working swiftly to minimize any potential health
risk to pets and working closely with the FDA to resolve the issue.
Veterinary clinics that were affected have already been notified.
