Chicago Dog Show on WGN Radio, and Why I'm Not Happy About the Olympics

Chicago dog show…I call it the greatest (dog) show on earth, the International Kennel Club of Chicago Dog Show. Susan Olsen queen of the dog show and I chat about how the Chicago dog show is innovative and different, listen here from Steve Dale’s Pet World, WGN Radio. For starters it’s one of the only remaining benched show; there are demos in many activities including Barn Hunt (dogs search and sniff for rats – these are domestic rats not city rats); junior judging (kids judge dogs); junior handling (kids show their dogs); exhibited by owner (ordinary dog owners, who aren’t professional handlers can show their dogs).

While supplies last, there will be free DVDs about dog bite prevention, while supplies last, from the American Kennel Club.

I also offer a commentary about the Sochi Olympics – the reality is that you cuddle with your best friend with four legs on your sofa at home, exterminators (that’s what they’re called there) on the other side of the world in Sochi are “hunting” stray dogs. Those relatively few stray dogs lucky enough will be kept at a make shift kennel, but no knows what will ultimately happen to those dogs, probably they will be killed when the foreign press leaves.

Here’s more about that – my commentary and Keith Olbermann’s.
