Dr. Meghan Herron

The most common cause of death in cats (and dogs) is behavior.  When the human/animal bond fractures pets are relinquished, and it the case of cats sometimes just booted outside. The most common behavior problems in cats are all discussed in the new book, Decoding Your Cat, co-edited by Dr. Carlo Siracusa, Dr. Debra Horwitz and Dr. Meghan Herron.

The most common behavior problems of all are cats who have accidents outside their litter boxes.

Dr. Herron talks about litter box issue in a FREE webinar sponsored by the Winn Feline Foundation on August 20, “Decoding Your Cat – Feline Elimination Problems” (which I moderate) at 1 p.m. ET/ noon CT/ 10 am PT.  The event includes RACE certification for veterinary professionals. Register here:

On my national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show, Dr. Herron explains how the book Decoding Your Cat came about in the first place.

Decoding Your Cat is authored by various members of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

There’s so much regarding cats that is simply untrue but people believe is true which the book debunks, as well as providing practical information on how to prevent problems from happening in the first place.
