Do You Have A Feral Cat Problem? Be a Part of the Solution

When you think of homeless cats, Chicagoans think of Tree House Humane Society, an organization which finds formerly owned cats homes, sometimes cats no other shelter might take – including cats with the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or cats with disabilities.

Tree House also helps homeless feral cats with a nationally known commitment to trap-neuter-return (TNR) called Feral Friends.

TNR programs depend on volunteers. The un-owned cats are humanely trapped, then brought into the Mac Lean Tree House spay/neuter clinic, where they are altered, and identified. According to local law, they are also vaccinated for rabies and microchipped. Little kitties are kept at the shelter to be adopted, and so are any obviously friendly cats. Others are returned to where they were to live out their lives – but without continuing to reproduce.
