Dr. Marty Becker On Fear Free, Healing Power of Pets in Times of Crisis and Human Animal Bond

Dr. Marty Becker is a unique figure in veterinary medicine – a supreme communicator and supporter of the Human Animal Bond, and the science associated with that bond. Dr. Becker will join Dr. Elizabeth Bales and myself in a Facebook conversation, which you can join HERE.

It’s all free (a world both Dr Becker and myself like), from Dr. Bales Facebook pae, Wednesday May 6 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT.  And it will be interactive, you can write in questions for Dr. Becker during the one-hour event.

Dr. Becker is the founder of Fear Free, an initiative which began in veterinary medicine to minimize fear, anxiety and stress in companion animals before and during veterinary visits. Now, his idea has taken off across the planet. Fear Free is a world wide phenomenon. And in additional to Fear Free for vets, there is now a Fear Free Shelter program (which both shelter professionals and volunteers can partake at no charge). About every veterinary teaching institution in the U.S. also supports Fear Free. Dog trainers, certified animal behavior consultants and pet groomers can all be certified in Fear Free too!

And there’s am interactive and informative website with information for pet owners (all authored by experts), called Fear Free Happy Homes.

And here’s just a bit more about Dr. Becker:

Dr. Becker was the resident veterinary contributor on “Good Morning America” for 17 years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of American Humane as well as its Chief Veterinary Correspondent, a founding member of Core Team Oz for “The Dr. Oz Show,” and a member of the Dr. Oz Medical Advisory Panel. His special fondness for older pets has led him to a spot on the Advisory Board of The Grey Muzzle Organization, which is dedicated to helping homeless senior dogs.

He has written 23 books that have sold almost 8 million copies, including three New York Times best-sellers. He also writes the weekly nationally syndicated newspaper feature Pet Connection with his writing partner, Kim Campbell Thornton.

Dr. Becker is an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and also at the Colleges of Veterinary Medicine at both Colorado State University and the University of Missouri. Additionally, he has lectured at every veterinary school in the United States, and is on the advisory board of World Vets, an international veterinary and disaster relief programs to help animals.

One of Dr. Marty Becker has many books, The Healing Power of Pets is particularly relevant today.

Dr. Bales and myself began Human Animal Bond Association video chats with Dr. Laird Goodman, president of the Human Animal Bond Association, which you can watch HERE.
