Pit Bull Hero Stops Attacker

“If you’re good to your dog, your dog is good to you,” said Maya Fairweather, an 18-year old who luckily wasn’t alone when walking in the park. She was with a five-month old puppy. But the pup went from play mode to serious mode in an instant to stop a rape.

Fairweather was walking her dog inside Red Hook Recreation Area Park in Brooklyn NY. She put her headphones on and let her dog off the leash so he could romp in the park for a while.

“I felt someone pull my headphones,” she said. “I thought it was my boyfriend grabbing me, so I turned around and smiled — but it wasn’t my boyfriend.”

It was a strange man, who seized her by the jacket and pushed her to the ground. He tried to pull off her pants. The playful pup  intervened, chomping down on the suspect’s leg while Fairweather ran away, and the attacked screamed an expletive.

The heroic dog, named Apollo, happens to be what most would describe as a pit bull.

During a special reception at Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan, Apollo received a hero’s welcome and was showered with gifts and a special cake.

The attacker has not been apprehended.
