I had the honor to speak with Dr. Dana Varble on the Human Animal Bond Association track at the giant VMX veterinary conference from the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) in Orlando, FL. We spoke about our bond with non-traditional pets like box turtles, leopard geckos and corn snakes. There really is a bond! And that’s what I discuss here on my national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio program with Dr. Varble, veterinary officer for NAVC.
Interestingly, during the pandemic reptile ownership has gone way up. Dr. Varble explains why she thinks that is happening.
We talk about the intense bond people have with pet parrots, and how that bond may even exceed dogs or cats. And parrots even talk to us, and understand more than some might think.
