Carole Yuster and Susie Raskin on WGN
Dogs (just by being dogs) allow children to relax, they don’t judge reading ability and they instill confidence, as Carole and Susie explain. And a part of what their program accomplishes is humane education and also helping any young kids who may be fearful of dogs.
Carole and Susie answer how to get dogs involved in the program.
Celebrating 10 years, K9 Pup Strut & Expo is Saturday, May 5 (Cinco de Mayo – but no margaritas) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sunset Woods Park in Highland Park.
I will emcee events which include a K9 Pup Strut (dog friendly, of course); with additional activities including dog costumes and trick contest, doggie massages, pet portraits, and all sorts of dog related businesses – some offering samples. Learn more about all this at K9Pupstrut.org.
Use the promo code ‘Mickey’ and you’ll receive a discount on the walk. The pet expo is free.
Also mentioned my Steve Dale’s Other World podcast with primatologist Dr. Birute Galdikas. Louis Leakey nearly a half a century ago chose Dr. Jane Goodall to study chimps, Dr. Dian Fossey to learn about mountain gorillas and Dr. Galdikas to research orangutans.
