Veterinary Behaviorist Dr. Debra Horwitz talks on Steve Dale’s Pet World on WGN Radio about pet behavior, and also the Ceva Animal Health Keep LOVE Alive Tour. Listen HERE, as Dr. Horwitz points out behavior is about keeping pets alive since so many many many animal are euthanized because of behavior problems. There is help out there, some are products and some are experts (LOVE in ‘Keep LOVE Alive’ is an acronym for Lean on Veterinary Expertise). In fact, Dr. Horwitz will be one of several veterinary behaviorists appearing at Bark in the Park on May 4 to answer your pet behavior questions, in person!

Bark in he Park, benefiting the Anti Cruelty Society, is a Chicago tradition; the annual event kicks off  in Lincoln Park near Montrose Beach. Thousands of dogs will take a leisurely stroll in the 5K course, though some more serious folks (without a dog) can run. The run begins at 9 a.m., and the walk kicks off at 9:15.

Among the many vendors, there will be samples of those pheromone products that Dr. Horwitz spoke about on the radio for helping anxious pets. Also, there will be samples of various pet treats. You can “test” your pup in agility….and there are even snacks for people! This is where I sometimes hangout. Of course, I’m busy as an emcee for the event with Bart Shore of WBBM radio and from WLS-TV Roz Varron and Hosea Sanders. We are all there to have fun, but also to help the Anti Cruelty Society.

Dr. Horwitz also makes an announcement on WGN Radio about a book due out early next year which was written by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, and I had the honor to edit.
