If you live in an urban or a rural area, it doesn’t matter, leptospirosis is everywhere. Dr. Natalie Marks, here on the national Steve Dale’s Other World radio show, points out that in dogs leptospirosis is underdiagnosed.

She explains what leptospirosis is and how dogs can get this disease and potentially even spread to other dogs or humans.

Dogs can die of leptospirosis and they do, but that’s almost always preventable, says. Dr. Marks.

Vaccination not only protects your own dog, but benefits the community at large.

Dr. Marks is supportive of dog parks, dog kennels and daycare facilities accepting only dogs vaccinated for lepto which, she says, should be a core vaccine.
