Lauren Mieli, founder of the The Catnip Times announces the Meow Meet Up Chicago, July 21-22 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Donald Stephens Convention Center. Listen to Lauren HERE on my WGN Radio, Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show.

with Lauren Mieli

This a cat convention – not for cats to attend – but for people Lauren calls the “cat obsessed.”

This event includes support from the American Veterinary Medical Association and American Association of Feline Practitioners. Leading veterinarians will speak at the Meet Up, including veterinary behaviorist and Cubs fan extraordinaire Dr. Melissa Bain, who will speak on several topics including enriching environments for indoor cats to stimulate their senses.

Some of the attendees are noted cat celebrities

Aside from various educational talks, here will be a cat cafe, a cat adoption lounge with adoptable cats from Almost Home Foundation (the goal is to adopt 100 cats over the weekend) and kitty yoga, Kitty BINGO, cat videos (with Cole and Marmalade) and some Instagram cat celebrities, and much more.

On Saturday morning, 10 am I happen to be the keynote speaker, and will talk about how and why cats are the Rodney Dangerfield of pets and also point out some unfortunate and unfair misconceptions about cats, as well as why cats are under-medicalized.

On Sunday, the keynote will be offered by Alley Cat Allies co-founder Becky Robinson, who is indeed a pioneer of trap-neuter-return-vaccinate movement to address community or feral cats.

We divulge how you may receive a certificate for learning for attending the Meow Meet Up.
