Mexican-Themed Clothes for Dogs

Cynthia Soto of Pocha Shop talks HERE on my Sunday afternoon Steve Dale’s Other World WGN Radio show about how she’s now barking up the right tree as a result of the pandemic. She transformed her career. She was an assistant teacher in early education, lost her job and decided to embark on a career selling clothes and various accessories with a LatinX-theme for pets.

“I wanted to include my Mexican heritage,” she says. And the results are striking.

Pocha/pocho is a derogatory term used to describe Chicanxs and those who have left Mexico. Stereotypically, pochxs speak English and lack fluency in Spanish. In a sense, pochxs aren’t ‘Mexican enough’ in the eyes of other Mexicans. However, she IS Mexican enough!

If you happen to live in Chicago, her new brick and mortar shop – filled with bright colors – is at 1956 W.Cermak Rd. Or you can shop online.
