Michael Vick Takes Dog Training Classes

Michael Vick taking dog training classes? What do I make of that? I’m honestly not sure. But, according to a report in USA Today, it’s true. Vick admitted in October that his family owned a dog, something that he was legally allowed to do after his probation expired last summer.
“I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet,” Vick said in a statement at the time. “As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”
He appears to be doing just that. After all, I absolutely suggest (strongly suggest) positive dog training classes, and Vick is taking one at a local PETsMART. But Mr. Vick, convicted dogfighter, millionaire quarterback isn’t just another dog owner. He’s right, of course, growing up with dogs does teach empathy, something Vick never apparently learned himself.
What do you think? I know he has the legal right. But is it right?
