Pet Poison Helpline Keeping Pets Out of Trouble

Happy Howliday! Dr. Ahna Brutlag, senior veterinary toxicologist Pet Poison Helpline on the national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show on keeping pets out of trouble at this time of year.

Common issues are Xylitol (a toxic artificial sweetener), certain types of chocolate and maybe those brownies with Xylitol also have Macadamia nuts and raisins. May taste good to us – but a potential killer of dogs.

Something you may not think about are batteries, required for some toys and very problematic for pets.

Poinsettias get a bad rap, not healthy to chew on but not likely deadly. However for cats, the #1 concern are lilies.  Fresh mistletoe, while romantic, can be a problem too.
