Puppy Mill Project benefit “Mothers in the Mills” was held May 10. John Barleycorn – River North.

Aside from raising dollars for the the Puppy Mill Project, founded by Cari Myers, Chicago City Clerk Susana Mendoza and Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey were honored. They were each invaluable to get a city ordinance and then county law passed to prevent dogs, cats and rabbits to be sold at pet stores.

The big winners of the night will be Bernie Berlin of A Place to Bark and Jane Clarke, a fifth grader who has raised over $500 for for the Puppy Mill Project from selling cupcakes and making dog toys, and she will receive the first “Kids and Kanines” award.

Janet Davies of Ch.7, WLS-TV was emcee.  Also, an announcement was made regarding an upcoming book, featuring Chicago celebrity pets (including our own pets) called “The Chicago Pet Project: Portraits and Letters from the Heart”with photography by Karen Morgan to benefit the Puppy Mill Project.
