Hear Dr. Jason Gagne, director veterinary technical communications at Purina, on Steve Dale’s Pet World national radio show about the intersection of the shortage of veterinary professionals with simultaneously more pets than ever before in the history of the U.S. He explains why this imbalance is occurring in the first place.
The American Veterinary Medical Foundation has a new program, which Purina is a partner, called Reaching Every Animal with Charitable Healthcare or REACH which aims to break down barriers to immediate veterinary care by offering grants to any of the more than 100,000 American Veterinary Medical Association members nationwide, increasing assistance to the most vulnerable communities. For every purchase with Purina’s pet direct platform, Purina will donate up to $200,000.
Right now, the economy is playing into the big picture regarding relinquishments or people unable to afford veterinary care.
