PURRsuing FIP and WINNing: What We Know Today

Everything you want to know about feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and have been afraid to ask is answered in this FREE webinar presented by the Winn Feline Foundation.

This is a big deal for many, many, many reasons. It was Winn Feline Foundation’s support of a drug nearly identical to Remdesivir for treating FIP that helped captured the attention of virologists regarding the treatment COVID-19. FIP is an immune-mediated illness, which had always been considered fatal, which occurs as a result of the otherwise benign enteric feline corona virus. In clinical trials, the drug treated FIP successfully.

FIP is no longer considered fatal.

The Atlantic just published a story about all this, and I previously did the same.

Webinars like this (which is acceptable for veterinary continuing education) with speakers of this caliber aren’t always free – but the Winn Feline Foundation wants veterinary professionals, cat breeders and all cat lovers to be up to date on FIP. And if you are interested in FIP – this presentation is incredible.

So much new knowledge and ways to think about FIP occurred as an outcome of the November FIP Symposium, which brought speakers from around the world together at the University of California, Davis. This webinar features feline experts Dr. Glenn Olah, Dr. Vicki Thayer, and Dr. Drew Weigner with Anthony Hutcherson of The International Cat Association as moderator. They discuss what FIP really is (and is not); all about coronaviruses, how to prevent FIP (is that really possible?). Is vaccination possible?, is treatment possible – and what does that treatment look like today? And SO much more.
