Cynthia Bathurst

Co-founder and CEO of ground-breaking Safe Humane Chicago Cynthia Bathurst explains HERE on WGN Radio Steve Dale’s Pet World how this non-profit organization supports humane treatment of dogs, including so-called court case dogs. At one point dogs were doing time without a committing a crime at Chicago Animal Care and Control only because their owners abused them or got into trouble with the law. Waiting for a day in court, the dogs languished at the shelter for a long time and were most often euthanized. Today these dogs typically find homes.

Safe Humane works in conjunction with the Chicago Police Departments and supports the positive transformative power of the human animal bond through humane education.

Is domestic violence a pandemic within the pandemic?

In so many ways, Safe Humane Chicago is a model which other cities may follow.

Bathurst also explains what volunteers might do for Safe Humane.
