Tick Disease is an Expanding Threat

Beckie Mossor, RVT

Beckie Mossor, registered veterinary technician is positively pumped up to warn against tick disease. She talks here on the national Steve Dale’s Pet World radio show about ticks and tick disease prevention.

Check out this Companion Animal Parasite Council resource for where the ticks are biting and where they are moving to.

Mossor notes that going online and randomly choosing a product, or a superstore and picking the product on sale or the one with “natural ingredients” or packaging that’s somehow appealing are not appropriate ways to make decisions – instead speak with your veterinary professional. For example, some products sold over-the-counter simply don’t work so well or may protect against ticks which are irrelevant because they don’t exist where you live.

Yes, when identified tick disease can indeed typically be treated, but FAR better if prevented. And while treatment is possible, tick disease isn’t curable.

Ask Beckie questions yourself about ticks and watch a free talk presented by the Human Animal Bond Association Thursday July 22  – Ticks: An Expanding Threat to Pets and Humans from the Human Animal Bond Association at 7 p.m. CT; 8 p.m. ET; 6 p.m. MT; 5 p.m. PT.  Register here: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8723614731417481483
