Registered veterinary technician Beckie Mossor warns that right now is the time tick disease happens most in dogs, ’tis the season in the U.S. She’s speaking at a veterinary meeting in November at the London Vet Show about tick disease, a place where there wasn’t previously a problem but there sure is now. One factor is climate change and in the U.S. and a record number of white-tailed deer and regarding Lyme Disease the even more significant culprit are the very cute white-footed mice.

Mossor notes that Lyme Disease isn’t the only disease impacting dogs and cats, and often it’s a cocktail of pathogens – so no wonder, a pet can feel so sick.

The good news is that appropriate protection can make all the difference in the world, and for Lyme there’s also an effective vaccine for dogs.
