Community Cats: A Journey into the World of Feral Cats is hot off the press, and the book’s author Anne Beall will be on Steve Dale’s Pet World, WGN Radio, 6:35AM Sunday, September 28. Listen HERE or 720AM.
Oh rats! That’s how it began – living on Chicago’s near north side the vermin were everywhere.
A neighbor told Beall about a program called Cats at Work where one could get feral cats that would take care of the rat problem. In Community Cats, she tells how she and her husband entered the world of feral cats when they signed up for the Chicago Cats at Work program with Tree House Humane Society.
Beall will talk about Tree House program, which includes TNR or trap, neuter, return. And she reveals results of research she’s conducted regarding these feral or community rat-catchers – which separates fact from fiction.
The Tree House Black Cat Ball fundraiser is October 17 at the Adler Planetarium. Special guest is Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald of Animal Planet’s Emergency Vets; I am the emcee with my very old friend Paul Lisnek of WGN-TV and CLTV. The real surprise is a hockey stick I’ll be auctioning off, signed by legend Bobby Hull, and also nearly every member of the current Blackhawk team. Value: Piceless, or a Gazillion Dollars.
