There are many household pet dangers we don’t think about, at the top of the list are our own medications, according to Dr. Heather Loenser of the American Animal Hospital Association. The worst are those little pill containers are those which contain our meds for a week, usually a variety. That’s really dangerous because the pet is getting a myriad of medications.
We also talk about toxicity to chocolate. Dark chocolate is bad. White chocolate not so serious.
Xylitol, the sugar substitute, is toxic to dogs. It’s in products dogs are sometimes unlikely to chew on, like in sugarless gum. However, Xylitol is also in some sugarless peanut butter, so check the label.
Another problem are people getting flea meds for dogs, and some are extremely dangerous to cats. If you must get flea products over the counter (not suggested), check the label.
