Do you have a cat? If so, please join my in thanking the Winn Feline Foundation.
Routine vaccines, treatment for a wide variety of medical medical problems, caring for cats in animal shelters even the genetic history of cats – – – these discoveries and so many more that help every cat every day were funded by the Winn Feline Foundation over the past 50 years.
A free Winn Feline Foundation 50th Anniversary booklet, “50 Years of Advancing Feline Medicine,” authored by some of the most prominent feline investigators in the world, and Winn Feline board members describe in more detail examples of past successes that have resulted from Winn funding.
When you read the milestones which Winn has contributed it’s amazing, from pretty much eradicating a deadly heart disease called dilated cardiomyopathy by insuring appropriate quantity of an amino acid called taurine is in all cat foods to being at the forefront of discovering a drug to actually treat feline infectious peritonitis (which is considered fatal).
I can’t imagine that Cat Fanciers’ Association Board Member, the late Robert Winn could have envisioned an initial $125 donation transforming into over $6 million dollars of funding cat studies. It’s safe to say no cat on the planet – even community (feral) cats – have not been touched by Winn’s support.
So, how can you cheer your two cents of support for Winn Feline Foundation? Well, you can give two cents (or more) so more work can be done.
Your favorite veterinarian or tech gets a really smart-looking plaque, and a thank you. And you not only celebrate and thank your vet or tech in a truly special and touching way, but you’re also helping all cats with a (tax deductible) contribution of $100.
If you don’t believe what I say about Winn, check out that Winn Feline Foundation 50th Anniversary booklet.
